Cannabis Topicals – Everything You Need to Know!
Do cannabis topicals really work? The short answer is yes – cannabis topicals have been well-known to help relieve pain and help to treat certain conditions. There have been many studies that strongly suggest the reality of anti-inflammatory properties in THC and CBD.
One of the Green Lady’s most popular topicals, our Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) infused Body Balm Muscle Salve (scented with lavender and lemongrass) was developed with the intent to provide localized pain relief for muscle aches and pains. We used RSO in this recipe to honor its origins as a topically applied cannabis oil extract developed by Rick Simpson himself who claimed this oil had cured his skin cancer.
Studies have found that THC and CBD are more effective when they are paired together rather than by themselves, this is called the ‘Entourage Effect’. With 200mg of THC and 200mg of CBD, this product is packed full of cannabinoids to produce the ‘Entourage Effect’. A total of 400mg of cannabinoids is much higher than most other topicals sold in cannabis stores.
Since its release, many customers have provided us with anecdotal evidence of some of these effects. Customers have reported that this product has given them relief from issues ranging from soreness and muscle pain all the way to arthritis, shingles, and recovering from surgical procedures. The relief from the pains of gout has also been reported by customers.
This product will not cause any psychoactive effects – thus it will get relief without the “high” and will only affect the physical area of the body to which it is applied.
It is highly recommended that you cleanse the area that you intend to apply this product to before use. This is meant to provide an unobstructed pathway for absorption into the skin and subsequently into the muscle. Allow 30-45 minutes for the topical to fully absorb into the skin before putting clothing on over the applied area. This product should provide 6-8 hours of pain relief.
The Green Lady also carries Infused Massage & Bath Oil. It is made with rosemary and ylang-ylang essential oils as well as THC distillate and CBD isolate. It can be used as a massage oil or to add to your warm bath water. Use to massage yourself or your partner. Or, when adding it to your bath experience, the oil will soften your skin and release a relaxing fragrance. Although this body oil was made primary for pampering purposes, some people feel that this body oil is a better choice than the body balm for those who are looking to cover large areas of skin rather than a localized spot treatment. Customers have reported to have experienced relief from muscle aches and pain using this body oil, too.
Lastly, The Green Lady sells a THC-infused Intimate Lubricant made from coconut oil, THC distillate, and edible cherry flavoring. Cannabis has a long history of use in obstetrics, gynecology, and as an aid for menstrual pain or pain relief during intercourse – thus, this product can be used for more than just pleasure. Research suggests that THC topical products absorb through your skin and mucous membranes including the mouth, rectum, and the vagina. The potential benefits of using THC lubricant may range from reducing pain and anxiety during sex, to increasing sensitivity and arousal, in addition to increasing frequency and intensity of orgasm. The lube obviously is a great component to any romantic relationship, enhancing the overall sexual experience – particularly for the receiver.
The intimate lubricant should be incorporated into your foreplay routine, as it takes about 15-30 minutes for the effects of the THC lubricant to be experienced, so it is important to apply 6-8 sprays before engaging in intercourse. It can also be an opportunity to provide a sensual massage or other fun and sexy activities! We made it cherry-flavored for a reason!
If you’re looking for a cannabis topical to treat a specific condition, you should make sure to discuss it first with your doctor.
